Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen on Tuesday, invaded the Celestial Church of Christ, Oshofa Parish at Wasimi, Ewekoro Local Government Area, Ogun State.

The hoodlums reportedly attacked the church around 12 midnight, during an all-night vigil.

Confirming the incident, the Shepherd of the church, Oluwatomisin Ehuwaojomo, told Daily Post that the abductors have reached out to him to demand a N50 million ransom.

“When my Assistant Shepherd called me almost two hours after they left, the kidnappers refused to speak with me twice. But on his third attempt, they spoke with me and demanded N50 million ransom.

“I told them that, I am a servant of God, nobody pays me a salary. I have spoken with the Ogun State Commissioner of Police. The command is on the matter,” the clergyman said.

The Ogun State Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, however, said he was yet to be briefed about the incident.

The police spokesman had in time past, warned against night vigils I’m the state, warning that churches should engage the police for security if such events become too important.

The latest development is coming just over a week after gun attacked the St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.
