After days of teasers, Beyonce announced on Thursday that her long-awaited seventh studio album “Renaissance,” the megastar’s first since 2016, will be released next month.
Overnight, Tidal, a streaming service once owned by Beyonce’s husband Jay-Z, confirmed the album’s release date on Twitter, with competitor companies Spotify and Apple Music tweeting the same information minutes afterward.
Beyonce’s social media accounts, which had their profile images removed last week, a strong clue that something was wrong, had their bios changed to read “act I… RENAISSANCE.”

The megastar’s website also advertised what appeared to be a new solo album for pre-order, as well as “Renaissance”-themed merchandise.
The news was followed by the announcement of a cover shoot with British Vogue, in which Queen B is shown as a retro-futuristic glam club kid.
The July 2022 edition will be available on newsstands on June 21.
“Soaring vocals and furious beats mix, transporting me back to the clubs of my youth in a split second,” said Edward Enninful, the editor-in-chief of British Vogue, who spent time at Beyonce’s Los Angeles home for the story.
