Senate President, Ahmed Lawan has been submitted as candidate of the All Progressives Congress for Yobe North Senatorial District.
The development is coming on the heels of the persistent refusal of Bashir Machina to step down as the APC flag bearer for Yobe North.
Machina had emerged the party’s flag bearer after winning the senatorial primary election in May.

Meanwhile, Lawan, who was a presidential aspirant at the time did not take part in the primary election that produced Machina as flag bearer.
This led to pressure on Machina from various quarters for him to secede the ticket to Lawan, who currently occupies the seat for his sixth tenure.
Machina had insisted that Lawan ought not to contest the presidential primary if he was still interested in going back to the Senate.
Details have emerged that Ahmed Lawan is the name submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission as senatorial candidate for Yobe North.
The development confirms reports that the APC had written to the electorial umpire to substitute Lawan for Machina as flag bearer.
No official statement had been made by either politician, the APC or INEC as of press time.
