Former Deputy of Central Bak of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu has questioned the conferment of Grand Commander of the Order of Niger, GCON, former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad.
DAILY REPORT recalls that Justice Tanko resigned his appointment on Monday, June 27 over health challenges.
He was immediately replaced with Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who was sworn in as acting Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Muhammadu Buhari.

During the swear-in ceremony of Justice Ariwoola, his predecessor, Justice Tanko was conferred with the second highest national honor in the country.
During the swearing-in of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as Acting CJN at the State House, Buhari said the award was being conferred on the jurist for the excellent work he did while in office.
In his reaction to the conferment, the former presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Party (ADC) Presidential aspirant threw a punch at President Buhari over the move.
Wondering what criteria was used in issuing the award, Moghalu noted that Tanko’s tenure was spectacularly undistinguished and was not deserving of such a honor.
He further stressed that Nigeria’s judiciary is corrupt and needs a total clean up.
He wrote;
“I’m not exactly certain what qualifies our recently retired Chief Justice of Nigeria Tanko Muhammad for the very high national Honour of GCON.
“The man retired under a cloud. His tenure was spectacularly undistinguished. Nigeria’s judiciary is corrupt and needs to be cleaned up.”
