Unknown arsonists have burnt down the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The office at the council’s headquarters in Ogurute was set ablaze on Sunday night, having the whole building burnt.
Reports stated that the state’s fire service around the area could not save the situation due to fear of further attacks until security was provided.

Sources in the area noted that the fire completely razed down the building by the time security was provided.
The sources added that the two fire trucks from Nsukka and Ogurute were only able to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby offices.
Igboeze North and its neighbouring Igboeze South LGA’s government had imposed a 6 PM to 6 AM curfew and banned commercial motorcyclists in the affected LGAs due to recent gunmen attacks.
There, however, has been a heavy security presence in the area to check attacks since the outbreak of violence over a month ago, but the battle has continued to linger.
