A 75-years-old tortoise is reportedly in huge relief after undergoing a successful shell reconstruction surgery at the Sokoto State Veterinary Clinic.
The septuagenarian animal was learnt to have been hit and ran over by a moving “Hilux” vehicle, which got his shell cracked and damaged at Argungun, in Kebbi state.
The successful surgery was performed by a team of veterinarians from the clinic and department of Surgery and Radiology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS), after spending hours on the special patient.

The shell was fortunately fixed using screws and circulage wire, while the patient has since returned to Argungu, Kebbi state, where he is reportedly recuperating.
