The Federal Government of Nigeria with plans from October, has assured Nigerians that they would be able to convert their cars and generators using petrol to gas.

Disclosed by Minister of State for Petroleum Resources during a recent media interview, Mr Timipre Slyva described the new development on its way as cheaper to the commonly used petrol.

He noted the federal government’s effort in providing alternative fuel, so as to ease the burden it citizens were facing from the recent hike in petrol price.

According to Mr Sylva, gas will now become fuel for cars as the programme will be rolled out within the next month.

He added that generators would also use gas noting the climatic friendship between the two.

Mr Sylva revealed that the government would receive funds from international donors to assist the project as soon as the carbon emissions reduction is achieved.

Mr Timipre Slyva in his words said;

“So, if you go to a filling station and you convert your car to dual capability or dual fuel, then you drive into a typical filling station, you will find gas LPG, you find CNG and NLG being sold.

“So, if you look at the price of PMS versus the price of gas and you think that gas is cheaper which of course, it is going to be cheaper.
Gas will even be cheaper than PMS as it is today. So you see that we are also giving an alternative to the ordinary Nigerians.”
