Though the ex-governor did not give a reason for the meeting, The PUNCH confirmed that it was held at Wike’s private residence in Port Harcourt, the Rivers capital.
Earlier on Thursday, 11 Aug. 2022, Obi met with Mimiko similarly did not state the purpose of the meeting in public.
The Labour Party presidential candidate had also visited Wike two months ago.
The closed-door meeting lasted for a few hours at the governor’s private residence in Port Harcourt.
Still, the outcome of the meeting was not known as only pictures of the two politicians were seen shaking hands in front of Governor Wike’s residence online.
After Obi’s first visit to Wike, there were speculations that the latter may dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, due to the outcome of its primary election and failure of the party’s presidential standard-bearer, Atiku Abubakar to pick the Rivers governor as his running mate for the 2023 general elections.
