In a congratulatory message over the weekend, Akpoyibo described the move as a non-negotiable requisite for the development of the nation’s economy.
He stressed that Tompolo is one who knows the Niger Delta inside out, and security of oil pipelines was guaranteed with the renowned freedom fighter.

“This is assuredly a non-negotiable requisite for economic development to the Nigerian state.
“Personally, I am convinced that your inside out knowledge of the Niger Delta will enable you deliver optimally in the task ahead.
“With this, absolute peace has returned to our region for good and the sustenance of development. Congratulations GOC,” Akpoyibo said.
Daily Report recalls that the foremost warlord was awarded a contract worth well over N4 billion for the securing of oil installations in the Niger Delta.
The move is part of the government’s approaches to tackling oil theft in the country.
