Olympique Marseille manager, Jorge Sampaoli, will leave his role as head coach of the club after a mutual agreement with the management of the club.

Sampaoli’s exit comes as a shock, given the 62-year-old led Marseille back to the Champions League with a second-place finish in Ligue 1 last season.

“Jorge Sampaoli will leave Olympique Marseille. It’s over, confirmed and it will be official soon,” he said.

“Marseille will be in the process to appoint a new manager soon,” he added.

The Argentine manager was signed on February 2021 in a deal that will expire on June 23, 2023.

He has enjoyed a successful managerial career across Europe and South America, taking charge of the Argentina and Chile national teams, as well as Sevilla at the club level.
