Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Feared ‘Injured’ After Gunmen Attack on Convoy

Many Dead as Ifeanyi Ubah Escapes Assassination

The lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah has been feared injured following an attack on his convoy on Sunday.

Daily Report reports that Ubah’s convoy was ambushed along the Onitsha-Awka road, in Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of Anambra State.

Three aides of the lawmaker and three security operatives were confirmed dead during the attack.

A source who confirmed the incident said though Ifeanyi Ubah escaped from the attack alive, he may have received injuries.

The source said:

“Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy came under attack in Enugwu Ukwu this night with some aides and police escorts killed

“I was driving up to that spot from the link road to the express when some people in a shop shouted at me and asked me to turn back and take the Omile Road which I did.”

An eyewitness also said;

“As I was driving, I heard sounds of guns like a war zone from afar along the old Onitsha-Awka road and immediately, I reversed and had to follow the expressway.

“The shooting was not small, it was later when I got to Awka around 8.15pm that I heard that a politician was attacked and some people killed.”

However, no official statement has been made by the camp of the lawmaker or the police as of press time.
