The Independent National Electoral Commission on Tuesday said about 2.7 million double registrations were deleted from the last Continuous Voters Registration exercise conducted by the commission.
INEC Chairman Prof Mahmoud Yakubu said this at a National Endowment for Democracy event in Washington DC in the United States.
According to him, about 50% of the new PVCs are ready but yet to be distributed to collection centres.

Yakubu added that the new Permanent Voter Cards will be ready by November.
INEC had earlier detected 1,126,359 out of the 2, 523,458 fresh registrants that registered between June 28, 2021, and January 14, 2022, to be invalid and thereafter delisted them.
Daily Report recalls that the electoral umpire already proposed January 2023 as date for the publication of the voters register.
According to INEC, the publication was in fulfilment of section 10 (6) of the Electoral Act 2022.
