Buhari Gives Minister of Water Resources 90 Days Ultimatum to Develop Flood Prevention Plan | Daily Report Nigeria

President Muhammadu Buhari has given the Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, 90 days to develop a comprehensive plan of action for the prevention of flood disaster in Nigeria.

The directive was made known via a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in Abuja.
The President in the directive, which was conveyed to the Minister in a letter signed by his Chief of Staff, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, said the minister should coordinate with the ministries of environment and transportation as well as state governments to develop the plan.

It was also disclosed that Buhari is “regularly receiving updates on the flooding situation in the country and restates his commitment towards addressing the challenges caused by the disaster in the country.”

The presidents directive comes amid current flooding in different parts of the country.
The 2022 flooding is said to be the worst in decades, and over 600 deaths have been recorded while millions of persons have been displaced.
