Some bandits reportedly attacked a police station around the Magami community in Gusau, Zamfara State capital, on Thursday.

The said bandits also seized the mobile phones and other variables from police officers on duty but did not take lives.

According to Abdul Balarabe, a local journalist who reports terror attacks in the state, the gunmen arrived in the community around 3:40 pm.

Reports revealed that several residents fled the community as a result of incessant attacks by terrorists.

Balarabe said after collecting the phones, the terrorists shot into the air before fleeing.

Balarabe tweeted:

“Bandits attack Magami Divisional police station under Gusau LGA of Zamfara State, snatch phones and other valuables belonging to the police on duty, they also fired warning shots and escaped. The incident happened today around 3:40pm.”

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the bandits stormed the stations to free one of them who was detained there.

A source said:

“They collected the phones of all the officers on duty and that of one of the complainant they met there, but didn’t kill anybody.”

However, SP Muhammed Shehu, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Zamfara denied the report when contacted.

Shehu said:

“No such thing happened.”
