Nigerian lawmaker of the Green Chambers, Senator Smart Adeyemi from Kogi West is pushing for the introduction of bill that is a total resembalge of the Mosaic law.
According to Senator Adeyemi, the bill when implemented, will see the cutting off of a hand of anyone who steals, as a way to discourage people from stealing.

The Senator made the call during a retreat for press corps in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital.

Adeyemi believes that if the hands of public officers in the country are cut off, they will not steal.
Hence, he wants to sponsor bills at the Senate for the enactment of the Mosaic law.
Driving his point further, Adeyemi stated that once two or three persons are used as scapegoats, others will learn.
“What am I talking about? Let us confront corruption. Very soon I’m coming back to the chamber to bring bills on ICPC and EFCC. I want us to introduce Mosaic law, what you call Sharia law. By the time you cut the hands of 10, 20 people in this country, nobody will want to steal again.
Adeyemi also suggested forcing corrupt politicians to engage in compulsory farming for the country as an alternative.
“By the time you say two, three people should face serious punishment; if you say that is too harsh let us have mechanised agriculture of about 200, 250 acres, once you are involved in corruption, you will spend your life farming for us.”
Adeyemi’s desire for the implementation of the Mosaic Law is driven by vision to see a greater Nigeria that his children will be happy to live in.
