A speeding truck driver on monday crushed two police officers to death in the Adebayo area of Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
It was gathered that the policemen were on their way to their duty posts when the accident happened on the Ado-Iworoko-lfaki Road.
The driver was said to have taken to his heels for fear of been lynched but he was later arrested by the police.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, who described the incident as unfortunate said the two policemen were on a motorcycle when the tipper driver, who was negotiating a diversion due to an ongoing construction work on the road, ran them over.
He said, “I can confirm to you that this pathetic event happened in the morning when the two policemen, who were coming from Iworoko Ekiti to their duty post in Ado Ekiti, were crushed by a truck.
“The policemen were on their lane, it was the truck driver that was negotiating a diversion placed on the road by the construction company rehabilitating the Ado-Iworoko-Ifaki Road by turning to the left side and overran them.
“We learned the two of them died. The driver of the tipper has been arrested while the corpses have been deposited in the morgue at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.”
