Why I’m Organizing a Scrabble Competition For Coastal Areas – Tare Magbei

Lead organizer of the Tare Magbei Scrabble Tourney, Tare Magbei has explained why he is fronting a competition of that guise.

The digital entrepreneur, who spoke with news men in Warri over the weekend, said a desire to push for continued education in coastal areas informed the decision.

“The need for education, particularly continued education in these areas cannot be overemphasized. My desire is to see a rise in the embrace of that route and this tourney is an awakening gong,” he said.

Magbei noted that true reformation of a society dwells greatly on how informed such a society is, adding that coastal communities were in dire need of intellectual-driven transformation.

On the theme of the tourney “Unearthing Champions’, Magbei said the competition is aimed at discovering the next state, national and international champions in the game of scrabble.

“We’re out to discover the next batch of champions in Delta, Nigeria and the world with emphasis on scrabble. Of course you know scrabble as a game is an intelligence builder, the more reason we’re using it as a pointer,” he added.

He stressed that the event will also feature a workshop to raise awareness for people in the areas in view to embrace sport as a career path.

The maiden edition of the Tare Magbei Scrabble is billed for December 2 – 3, 2022 at Burutu, headquarters of Bururu Local Government Area.
