Delta LG Polls: Ozobo Harps on Council Chairman From Burutu North

Foremost Niger Delta activist, Comrade Austin Ozobo has drawn the battle line with leaders in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta state over the rights to produce the next Chairman of the council.

While arguing that it was the turn of Burutu North to produce the next council chairman, Ozobo insisted the people would resist every attempt to retain the incumbent Chairman, Hon God knows Angele for another term.

In a press statement issued on behalf of the concerned stakeholders of Burutu North, Ozobo added that the PDP gentleman rotational agreement in the Council should be honoured to avoid an avoidable political war in the LGA.

Explaining the agreement, he stated that the two constituencies, Burutu North and South had agreed to rotate the chairmanship in the Council every three years and had been sustained since the inception of democracy in Nigeria in 1999 till date.

He emphasized that any attempt to extend the tenure of Hon Angele would be criminal, saying it would it is meant to serve the personal interests of some political perverted persons in the LGA.

The activist accused further Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of attempting to impose Hon Angele on the Burutu people for another tenure, insisted that Okowa should refrain from interfering in Burutu affairs, and allow them decide who should rule them.

Ozobo urged Okowa to focused on governance and Ika affairs and stop interloping on Burutu LGA affairs as he’s not an indigene from the area, to avoid being dragged to the mud.

The rights advocate asserted that there should be an end to the reign of oligarchy, aristocracy and plutocratic politics in Burutu, and that the interest of the people be pursued by all well-meaning Burutu sons and daughters.

The activist further posited that attempt to reimposed the current chairman of Burutu LGA on Burutu people for another 3years would be seen as an invitation to war and would be vehemently resisted.

He called on E.K Clark, Dr. Braduce Angozi, Hon. Funkeme Solomon, Hon. Godday Orubebe, Hon. Julius pondi, Hon. Asupa Forteta, Hon. Dan Yingi, Hon. Frank Enokorogha, Prince Emmanuel Amgbaduba and others to avoid being induced into what he described as a criminal plan orchestrated by some perverted persons to rape the democratical rights of Burutu North people, and to ensure the sustainability of their integrities.
