NGO Demands Adequate Funding, Proper Reformation of Police

NGO Demands Adequate Funding, Proper Reformation of Police | Daily Report Nigeria

A non-governmental human rights organization, Center For Human Rights And Public Complain (CHRPC), has called on the Federal Government to consider genuine reformation of the Nigerian Police Force.

The group made the call on Wednesday, October 14, when it paid a familirization visit to the Police Area Command in Warri, demand for adequate funding of the force.

The delegation led by the National President of CHRPC, Comrade Ezekiel Kagbala had visited the Warri Area Commander of the Nigeria Police, ACP Abubaka Agungu to inform and intimate him on the organisation’s activities in the area.

While speaking during the visit, Comrade kagbala urged the federal government to fully implement the appropriate funding framework for the Police as stated in the police act recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The body also indicated her interest in partnering with security operatives in promoting human right and effective policing, adding that security is not a job for the police alone.

He maintained that everyone have a role to play in enabling the police force to deal with the demands and intricacies of the society.

The group further added her voice to the call by Nigerians on proper reformation of the police force, and to also encourage officers and men of the force by given them adequate attention, good salary structure, proper training that is in accordance with international standards as well as decent accommodation and other related incentives.

According to the group, the above will motivate operatives in carrying out their duties with professionalism and excellent ethics.

On his part, the Police Area Commander for Warri, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Human Right body and thanked Comrade Kagbala for acknowledging the role of the Police in the society.
