Tanker drivers in Yola, the Adamawa state capital seem to have lend their voices to the ongoing nationwide protests as they stand against police brutality in the state.
This is even as the tanker drivers shutdown the Yola-Jalingo highway in protest against an alleged brutalization of one of their members by police officers.

The protesting drivers blocked a section of the federal highway near Mayo-Belwa, a major town in southern Adamawa State.

The action of the tanker drivers halted traffic along the highway.
Sources say the drivers were angered when one of their colleagues who conveyed fuel was asked to pay for passage by policemen along the highway.
The police operatives pounced on him for failing to heed to their demand.
“When the driver did not heed the demand, the policemen descended on him, beat him to a stupor and tore his clothes,” a witness narrated.
According to the witness, it took the efforts of the people in the area to rescue the driver from the police before taking him to a nearby hospital.
A driver dentified Sale Baba, an official of the Tanker Drivers Association, said, “We are tired of the attrocities being perpetuated by the police.”
However, the Police spokesman in Adamawa state, Sulaiman Nguroje revealed that the command has deployed men to investigate the incident.
