The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone, has said that the Delta State Government led by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has done its best for Ijaws in the state.
Chairman of the zone comprising of Delta, Edo and Ondo States, Dr. Doubra Okotete, said this when the Delta Ijaw Youths in Politics his Executives a consultative visit over the weekend.
Daily Report Nigeria recalls that the Delta Ijaw Youths had backed the unveiling and adoption of Oborevwori as sole governorship candidate for the 2023 election by Ijaw leaders back in December 2022.

The group also declared that its mandate is to carry out the declaration of the elders to the latter.
The group’s spokesperson, Comrade Augustine Okporu said the resolution of the elders is what the youths are running with for 2023, adding that it was out to raise awareness and mobilization to ensure victory for the PDP governorship candidate.
Responding, Okotete noted that Delta would be in good hands with Sheriff Oborevwori succeeding Ifeanyi Okowa.
Giving his blessings to the group, Okotete said;
“PDP to an extent, has done well for Ijaw people. Whether as a ruling party or as an opposition, the Governor Okowa government has favored us.
“I witnessed some of the laudable projects Okowa did for us. In my community, we have a road spanning kilometres from the Pipeline, Obotobo 11 to Sokebolou.
“Soon, another major project will be commissioned in Ogulagha town. A very big technical school built by this administration.
“From Burutu to Gbaramatu, internal roads have been linked. From Ojobo to Tuomo, hospitals are been commissioned.
“Even as Council, Okowa gifted us two executive vehicle for us to pilot our affairs. It has never been done. As we speak, the first phase of our the IYC Secretariat has been completed in Bomadi, courtesy of this government.
‘I say again that we’re pleased with Okowa’s government,” Okotete stressed.
Okotete added that while the IYC will always remain apolitical, it will continue to demand for what is due the Ijaws to be given to them.
The Delta Ijaw Youths were led by Chief Frank Akiefa – Chairman, Pudiya Biakpara – Coordinator, Hon Ken Oyakemeagbegha – Vice Chairman 1, Christian Talbort – Vice Chairman 2 and Barr. Jerry Otuaro – Vice Chairman 3.
Others are Barr. Tarakiriowei ThankGod – Secretary, Comr. Okporu Ebi Augustine – Spokesman, Comr. Jennifer Oki – Treasurer, Hon Afore Felix – Mobilization Officer, Comr. Other members are Hon. Jesse Brinumughan, Comr. Awipi Lawson, Comr. Christopher Akontua, Comr. Alex Misoru, and Rt. Hon. Tuodolo Marker.
