His Royal Majesty, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V has been re-selected and proclaimed as the Obong of Calabar.
The proclamation was made on Wednesday night, January 18.
This is coming days after a Supreme Court order removed him from the position.
Otu was reaffirmed as Obong of Calabar following a meeting held by 13 Thirteen kingmakers, called Etuboms’ Conclave of the Efik Traditional Rulers’ Council.
The 13 Etuboms endorsed the proclamation document, signed by the chairman of the conclave, HRH Etubom Ntiero Eden Effiwat, and the Secretary, HRH Etubom Edem Ita Ededem.
Abasi Otu V was re-selected and proclaimed as the Obong of Calabar in compliance with the Supreme Court judgment of January 13, 2023, which ordered that the exercise must be done not later than yesterday, Wednesday
