The governor of Delta state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa was on Wednesday, booed by angry citizens for claiming to have executed ghost projects.

The incident occurred on Wednesday when the vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and the party, took its campaign to Bomadi Local Government Area.

A source, who pleaded anonymity told Daily Report Nigeria that all was going well until Okowa, started giving his scorecard.

According to the source, Okowa’s claims to have performed well across the state, particularly for the Ijaws was greeted with severe boos from the massive crowd at the venue of the campaign.

“The governor angered the crowd that turned out for the campaign when he repeatedly claimed that he has done well for Bomadi people,” the source said.

“The people refuted his claims head-on with wild boos from every corner of the crowd. His persistent claims to have done well should not be imposed on us. Okowa did nothing for Bomadi people except he means ghost projects,” the source added.

In his response to the boos, Governor Okowa told the people that government continues, adding that they should still vote in the PDP to rebuild the country.

Okowa said;
I appeal to you all not to use anger to throw away your votes; cast your votes for the PDP to rescue and rebuild this country.

“The PDP has the most qualified hands to remedy the situation we are going through in this country,” he stated.

Multiple quarters have tackled Governor Okowa for allegedly marginalizing Ijaws in the state in his administration.

Most notable is that of elder statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), Chief. E. K Clark, who described Okowa as “worse than a dictator,” and asked him to “withdraw from his vice presidential race.”
