On the eve of the presidential and Assembly elections, Governor Yahaya Bello destroyed major roads leading to Kogi Central senatorial district.

Bello recalled a bomb blast that occurred on December 29, during a visit by President Muhammadu Buhari.

One of the measures arrived at was to restrict the number of routes to the flashpoints to enable security agents properly mount effective surveillance on the other access roads for the safety of the people.”

However, Natasha Akpoti the opposition senatorial candidate viewed the excavation of roads leading to localities considered her strongholds were politically motivated.

She added that the excavation on election night was a deliberate attempt to prevent electoral officials from getting to the five local government areas in her senatorial district.

Akpoti asserted that the excavation would not only prevent electoral officials, but it would make it difficult for security personnel to reach and rescue her should there be an attack.
