Jos–A certain voter has lamented over a disenfranchisement issue on some of them at a polling unit in Blatue State.

It was said that the incident occurred at the Township School Jos polling centre on Tafawa Balewa Road.

According to the voter, the INEC official nullified more than 600 votes by “mistake” during the presidential and National Assembly elections conducted on Saturday, February 25.

The INEC staff was only distributing ballot papers without capturing the previous 600 voters with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, the witness stated.

The voter, who claimed the centre was Peter Obi, presidential candidate of Labour Party’s “majority centre,” further called on those whose votes were nullified to return to the polling unit so they can be captured.

The voter said:

The INEC Staff in our centre, Township School, Tafawa Balewa Road in Jos supposedly made a “mistake.

“After over 600 people had cast their votes and gone, we who are still trying to vote then noticed that the staff was not capturing but simply giving out ballot papers. Since the previous voters were not captured, it nullifies their votes.

“Now, they are saying if we know anybody who had voted and gone we should call them back for capturing. This is outrageous! How are we supposed to start tracing over 600 people

“This centre is a Peter Obi majority centre! Please if you know anyone whose centre is Township school Jos, tell them to come back and vote.”
