Following Godwin Emefiele’s suspension as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria by President Bola Tinubu on Friday night, Daily Report Nigeria recalls a prediction on his welfare by Shehu Sani.
The former lawmaker had predicted that Emefiele will be like a zebra when President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office.
According to Sani, Emefiele might face various challenges when a new President takes office.
Sani described the CBN boss’ situation as that of a “Zebra in the hands of tigers,” when Buhari leaves office on May 29.

Shehu’s comment is tied to the fact that President-elect, Bola Tinubu, and some governors of the All Progressives Congress, continued to kick against the naira redesign policy by the CBN.
Recall that the naira redesign subjected many Nigerians to untold hardships in the face of scarcity of the new naira notes.
However, the Supreme Court extended the validity of the old N200, N500, and N1,000 naira notes till December 31, 2022.
The apex court stated that the CBN must continue to receive the notes from Nigerians while declaring the President’s directive on the redesign of the new notes without due consultation was invalid.
Emefiele’s Suspension: Can The President Remove a CBN Governor?
Meanwhile, Sani is of the opinion that Emefiele may not be protected against those who tackled the policy when Buhari eventually becomes an ex-President later in the year.
“When Baba (Buhari) is gone, Emefiele will be like Zebra in the hands of Tigers,” Sani said in a post via his verified Twitter handle on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
