Why PDP Protested Against INEC - Atiku | Daily Report Nigeria

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has given reason to why his party protested at the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Monday.

Atiku said the protest was because all provisions of the current Electoral law were completely contravened by the commission.

Atiku, accompanied by the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, other leaders of the party and supporters stormed the INEC headquarters in Abuja to protest against the declaration of Bola Tinubu og the All Progressives Congress as President-elect by the electoral umpire.

Addressing newsmen outside the gate of the INEC headquarter in Abuja, Atiku vowed that the protest would continue until the issues raised are addressed.

Atiku said;

“All the provisions of the current Electoral law have been completely contravened. We were protesting and then INEC was not listening and went on to announce the result.

“That is why we are protesting. We have the right to protest and it will continue for a very long time, either every day or any other day.

“We have the right to protest under the constitution, and it doesn’t stop us from going to the court.”

Atiku and his Labour Party counterpart, Peter Obi lost the February 25 Presidential election to the APC’s Bola Tinubu.
