The Court of Appeal has affirmed Ademola Adeleke as governor of Osun State.

The appellate court in its sitting on Friday, vacated the tribunal judgement that nullified the election of Adeleke as governor of Osun State.

In a unanimous decision by a three-member panel of Justices, the court held that the appeal Adeleke lodged to challenge his sack by the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, was meritorious.

Aside from setting aside the judgement of the tribunal, the court, in its lead judgement delivered by Justice Mohammed Lawal, awarded N500, 000 cost against the All Progressive Congress, APC, and its candidate, Gboyega Oyetola

Adeleke, who is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, had appealed against the judgment by the Osun Governorship Election Tribunal, which declared Gboyega winner of the poll held in July.

The Tribunal had cited over-voting as part of its reason for declaring Gboyega winner.

However, the appellate court also ruled in favor of the PDP candidate during its judgment on Friday.
