Members of a Civil Society Organisation from Free Nigeria Group have listed out 16 Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioners for sanction.

The RECs could face sanctions over alleged shortcomings during conduct of the 2023 general elections.

The CSOs, during their meeting, said they were dissatisfied with the conduct of the just concluded presidential poll which saw All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu, emerge as president-elect.

They mentioned that there were irregularities in many parts of the country during the election.

They called for the sanctioning of the INEC RECs of the following states: Lagos, Rivers, Borno, Zamfara, Niger, Jigawa, Kano, Imo, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Ogun, Oyo, Cross River, Katsina, and Edo states.

Furthermore, the group disapproved of the May 29 inauguration of the President-elect, Tinubu.

Alternatively, they demanded for the installment of an Interim National Government (ING) to conduct a fresh election.

They urged Presidential Muhammadu Buhari to put the country in place before leaving office on May 29.
