The Federal Government has disclosed that it would need about $5billion to implement the Nigerian National Broadband Plan (NNBP) 2020-2025.
Chairman of the Broadband Implementation Steering Committee, Ubale Maska, revealed this during the first stakeholders’ consultation with industry players on the implementation of the said plan, in Abuja.
According to Maska, the plan can be achieved within the cost of $3.5 to $5billion as he noted that none of the several options is defined yet.

“There are conflicting demands; we don’t know if that will happen. But the infrastructure funds that the Central Bank of Nigeria is floating is another source.
“NNBP is designed to deliver data download speeds across Nigeria, a minimum of 25Mbps in urban areas, and 10Mbps in rural areas, with effective coverage available to at least 90% of the population by 2025,” he said.
