Governorship Election: Police Ban Protests in Nasarawa, Issue Arrest Threat | Daily Report Nigeria

The Police Command in Nasarawa has banned every forms of protests across entire 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

This was contained in a statement on Sunday by the Nasarawa Police command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, in Lafia the state capital.

Nansel stated that the move by the command was aimed at forestalling a breakdown of law and order in the state.

The police image maker charged parents and guardians to ensure their wards do not violate the order as anyone caught shall be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.

For over a week now members of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state including women and youth groups have been protesting demanding that the Independent National Electoral Commission review the 2023 governorship election,” the statement said in part.

Daily Report Nigeria recalls that several groups had taken to the streets in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital to protest against alleged irregularities in the governorship election that returned Governor Abdullahi Sule for a second term.

For more than a week now, members of the Peoples Democratic Party made up of women and youth groups have sustained demonstrations, demanding for the Independent National Electoral Commission to review the 2023 governorship election in the state.
