Nigeria’s candidate for the Director-General position of the World Trade Organization, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has expressed her thoughts over the postponement of the decisive meeting earlier scheduled for Monday November 9, 2020.

The former Nigerian Minister of Finance expressed satisfaction in the WTO formally recording her leading in the memo that announced the postponement of the meeting.

She took to her official Facebook page to thank the WTO, stating that every step is important even as she looks forward to further progress.

She wrote;

Thank you, WTO, for today’s step in the formal recording of my leading position as Most Likely to Attract Consensus for #WTODG.

Every step is important. ‘Look forward to further progress at the appropriate time.

Ngozi is the leading candidate on the race to the new Director-General of the World Trade Organization with a commanding lead over South Korean Trade Minister, Yoo Myung-hee.

Her announcement is only delayed by an opposition of her emergence by the United States, who prefers the South Korean Trade Minister to lead the WTO.
