An Oyo State Family Court 2 sitting at Iyaganku Ibadan on Monday, ordered the remand of a 50-year-old man Gboyega Lasisi, for allegedly having canal knowledge of his 7-year-old daughter.

The Magistrate, P.O Adetuyibi, who did not take the plea of the defendant due to want of jurisdiction, ordered his remand in Abolongo correctional facility in Oyo town.

Mrs Adetuyibi said that the defendant would remain in the correction facility, pending legal advice from the state Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

She, thereafter, adjourned the matter till July 6 for mention.

The police had charged Lasisi with a count charge of defilement.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Folake Ewe, told the court that the defendant had, on March 22, had unlawful sexual intercourse with his 7-year-old daughter.

Ewe said the offense was committed in the Aro area, Ilora, in the Afijio Local Government State of the state.

According to her, the offense violated Section 34 of the Oyo State Child Rights Law, 2006.
