The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio has revealed that the late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari asked him to sack Dr Joi Nunieh.

According to the former Senator, Mrs Joi Nunieh who was Acting Manager of the Interim Management Committee of the Niger Delta Development Commission was asked to be relieved of her duties because she was not qualified to hold the position.
Akpabio stated that Abba Kyari asked him to fire the former Managing Director of the NDDC over her NYSC certificate, which she did not have.

However, Akpabio who was responding to questions at the ongoing probe instituted against the NDDC over alleged looting and corruption in the commission,
stated that Mrs Nunieh was relieved of her appointment over her insubordination to his office.
Recall that Dr Joi Nunieh and Minister Godswill Akpabio have been at loggerheads in recent times with both parties throwing series of allegations at the other.
