Abdullahi Adamu, the resigned chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been accused over a missing N32 billion from the party’s purse.

The said missing N32 billion was reportedly raised from the sale of forms for the 2023 general elections.

According to an unnamed National Working Committee (NWC) member, Adamu’s failure to account for the funds was the “final straw” that led to his potential ousting.

The chieftain said, “Only N7 billion is left in the account as we speak. Adamu and Omisore claimed the account has been audited, but we are not aware of when the auditors were appointed.

“How can NWC not be aware of the appointment? It is part of our responsibilities to appoint auditors.”

Despite seeking support from state chapter chairpersons, Adamu did not receive a positive or convincing report.

Another APC chieftain said; “By the APC constitution, the proceeds were supposed to be shared with the zonal, state, and ward levels of the party, and they were not in the know. So there was no way they were going to support him.”

It was said that during the election, while President Bola Tinubu supported  Tanko Al Makura, a former governor of Nasarawa state for the position of national chairman, party leaders loyal to former President Muhammadu Buhari backed Adamu.

In 2015, according to reports, an agreement was sealed for Tinubu to succeed Buhari.

Enraged with Tinubu’s famous slogan, “Emi l’okan” (“it’s my turn”) Adamu threatened that the party would “discipline” the President.

The ex-Lagos State Governor expressed frustration over feeling betrayed in recent years and close to the primary, Adamu disclosed to the NWC that former Senate President Ahmad Lawan was Buhari’s preferred candidate.
