Abia State Governor Alex Otti has set the record straight on rumours of his alleged defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, Otti denied any plans to abandon the Labour Party, which brought him to power.
The governor clarified that his meeting with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma was to attend the birthday celebration of Uzodinma’s twin daughters, not to discuss defection. “The report that His Excellency, Governor Alex Otti, held a meeting with Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State over alleged planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), is false, baseless and unfounded,” the statement read.

The governor urged focus on governance rather than politics, adding that decisions with significant impact on Abians would be taken in conjunction with the people and his allies.
