Abia State government has announced that civil servants in the state will receive the new N70,000 national minimum wage from October 2024.

This was made public by the Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu at the Government House Umuahia on Tuesday while addressing journalists on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.

Kanu also announced that nine new roads have been approved for construction and reconstruction in Abia State, saying that the projects will be spread across the three senatorial zones.

He added that two road projects at Afara-Isi Court and Ikarike Street in Umuahia have been completed.

According to him, the sanitization of the three abattoirs was to ensure that Abia people are not infected by diseases.
