The Abia State Police Command has confirmed the successful rescue of three kidnap victims and the recovery of ₦2 million cash believed to be part of a ransom payment.
The victims — Onyedikachi Peter Onyegesi from Akpou, Isuochi (Abia State), Ifeanyi Nnabuife, and Amarachi Nwaebubu, both from Anambra State — were reportedly abducted at Afojide Market, Isuochi.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the command’s Intelligence Response Unit, working in collaboration with other tactical teams, carried out the rescue operation on July 12, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m.
“In the course of the operation, a red Lexus 350 Jeep, two million naira cash (part of the ransom payment), three mobile phones, and two leg chain shackles were recovered,” DSP Chinaka said.
She added that some of the suspected kidnappers connected to the incident have been arrested and are currently being interrogated.
“Some kidnappers connected with the heinous crime have been apprehended and are currently undergoing interrogation,” she stated.
EFCC Secures Conviction of Five for Cybercrime in Ilorin
The Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has secured the conviction of five individuals involved in various cybercrime offences after trials before different courts in Kwara State.
The convicts — Ayinla Abdulmajid, Yusuf Onimisi, Muhammed Eneye, Abdulbasit Abdulmumeen, and Victor Anibe — were arraigned on separate charges and sentenced by three different judges.
