  • Three wanted kidnap suspects have been arrested in a joint police operation led by ACP Victor O. Godfrey, targeting violent criminal networks in Abuja and parts of Kaduna State.
  • The suspects confessed to abducting and detaining victims in forest camps, with some held for months and others executed; one suspect detailed internal killings within the group.
  • The police operation, backed by digital forensics, is seen as a major breakthrough in efforts to dismantle kidnapping syndicates threatening security around the FCT.

The Abuja Police Command has arrested three high-profile kidnap suspects accused of orchestrating multiple deadly abductions and killings across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and parts of Kaduna State.

According to police sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the arrests were made on Saturday, June 29, during a coordinated operation executed by the Scorpion Squad under the leadership of ACP Victor O. Godfrey. The suspects were apprehended between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. after weeks of intensive surveillance and the deployment of digital forensic tools.

Those arrested include Abdulkadir Abubakar from Mpape in the FCT, Mohammed Tasiu Sani from Rigina in Kaduna, and 27-year-old Suleiman Jibrin from Sabon-Gayan, Kaduna State. All three, identified as Fulani, were on the police command’s most-wanted list for their roles in serial kidnapping cases, particularly in Jere, Kajuru, and other FCT-bordering communities.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to abducting victims and moving them to forest hideouts in Kachia and Rigina, Kaduna State. Some victims were reportedly held for extended periods, and others were killed. Abdulkadir Abubakar allegedly revealed internal killings within the gang, including the execution of members suspected of betrayal.

Authorities say the suspects are currently aiding efforts to locate hidden arms and apprehend other fugitives within the network. The police described the operation as a significant breakthrough in weakening violent criminal groups threatening public safety in the FCT and neighboring regions.
