Access Bank has strongly denied allegations made by social media influencer, Vincent Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan, who claimed that ₦500 million had vanished from a customer’s account.

The bank labeled the accusations as “baseless” and reaffirmed its commitment to ethical banking practices and customer fund security.

In a statement released on Sunday, Access Bank responded to the viral video posted by VeryDarkMan, which accused the bank of mishandling the account of a deceased customer and engaging in unethical practices.

“We have been made aware of a video circulating on social media that makes unsubstantiated claims about missing funds from a customer account,” the statement read.

The bank further emphasized that it operates with the highest ethical standards and that both internal and independent investigations had been conducted into the matter.

Access Bank also urged the public to disregard sensationalized and unverified claims that could mislead and cause unnecessary panic.

“We advise the public to be cautious and not believe misleading allegations that are designed to provoke and misinform,” the statement added.

The controversy surrounding the alleged missing funds has fueled online debates about transparency and accountability in Nigerian banking, with many questioning the credibility of the viral claims.

However, Access Bank remains steadfast in its assertion that no funds are missing and has reassured its customers that their interests are safeguarded.
