‘Accidental’ Gunshot by Security Agent Kills LAUTECH Student

A gunshot that was “accidentally discharged” from the gun of a yet-to-be-identified security agent has killed a student from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

According to reports, two other students were injured during the incident.

It was said that the security agent was called to mediate a dispute between two individuals at the institution.

However, the situation escalated when the agent reportedly fired shots into the air, inadvertently hitting the student who later succumbed to the injury.

In response, students protested by locking the school gates, demanding justice for the deceased.

The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is underway.
