Daboikiabo Warmate, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) has filed a lawsuit against the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum.

According to Warmate, Damagum violated the party’s constitution.

Warmate, the head of Concerned PDP League was also a joint defendant in the case about the PDP’s National Working Committee, NWC and National Executive Committee, NEC

Warmate alleged that the Acting chairman, the NWC, and the NEC “negligently and flagrantly disrespected, disregarded and jettisoned Section 31 (4) of the PDP 2017 Constitution,” which stated that the “NEC shall meet at least once in every quarter at the instance of the National Chairman or at the request of two-thirds of its membership, who shall notify the chairman at least seven days prior to the meeting; and an emergency meeting may be summoned by the National Chairman having regard to all the circumstances of the agenda.”

The PDP chieftain alleged that since the 97th meeting of NEC held on September 8, 2022, no such meeting has taken place again.

therefore sought a court order barring the defendants from any other party activities.

He called on the court to issue an order directing the PDP to hold a meeting of the NEC within seven days and elect key national officials.

He requested the court to order the defendants to pay him N5m as the cost of filing the lawsuit.

The suit, however, has not yet been assigned to a judge.
