The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has launched a blistering attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing him of mismanaging Nigeria’s security and global reputation following U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat of military action against Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Monday, the party said Trump’s remarks highlight “the urgency and scale of Nigeria’s security collapse.”

“The statement by President Trump reminds us of the greater global concern about the sanctity of human life, and the cardinal responsibility of national governments to protect the lives of people who live within their borders,” Abdullahi said.
He noted that while the U.S. President’s decision to list Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern is unfair, it also reflects how deeply global confidence in Nigeria’s security structure has eroded.
“We are guided by the painful reality that what is really at stake on this issue are the thousands of human lives that have been lost to insecurity in Nigeria, irrespective of their tribe, religion, or region,” Abdullahi adthat

The ADC also criticised the Tinubu administration for what it described as “diplomatic negligence and policy drift”, linking Nigeria’s weakened international influence to poor foreign representation.
“How can a government that has been boasting of unprecedented revenue success continue to give lack of funds as an excuse for not appointing ambassadors?” the party queried.
According to the ADC, more than two years into Tinubu’s administration, the continued absence of ambassadors in key foreign missions shows a lack of strategic engagement with the global community.
The statement added that Nigeria’s decline as a continental and regional leader under Tinubu is no longer debatable, calling for urgent reforms to restore both national security and international credibility.
