Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has called on President Bola Tinubu to immediately employ diplomacy and wisdom in speaking with former United States President Donald Trump over concerns regarding alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.

Speaking during the November Holy Ghost Service at Redemption City, Ogun State, Adeboye expressed concern over recent statements from Washington. Trump had reportedly ordered the Pentagon to consider “possible action” against Nigeria, accusing the government of failing to stop the killing of Christians.

Adeboye said this is not the time for pride or confrontation. According to him, Tinubu should reach out to Trump and request at least 100 days of grace while Nigeria addresses its internal security challenges.

“If I were asked to make suggestions, I would tell our government: act fast, act wisely, and act diplomatically,” he said. “Convince the American president to delay any move for about 100 days and instruct our security chiefs to end terrorism within 90 days or step aside.”

His comment follows the United States’ recent classification of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged religious freedom violations. The Nigerian government, however, insisted that the violence affects citizens of all faiths and is driven by criminals and extremist groups, not by government policies.

Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar described the US decision as a misunderstanding of Nigeria’s complex security situation.

Adeboye stressed that Nigeria must not assume that any foreign nation will defend it if a conflict erupts. He stated clearly that countries like China or Russia may express sympathy, but none will send help when the crisis becomes real.

“This is not the time for arguments or politics. Innocent people are dying every day. Leaders must put human lives above anything else,” he said.

The respected cleric urged the government to expose those funding terrorism and ensure accountability among security agencies. He ended his message with a prayer for peace, urging Nigerians to remain hopeful.

“If we apply wisdom and urgency, this storm will pass,” Adeboye concluded.
