Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been named the ‘Best African International Footballer’ at the Ghana Football Awards.
Lookman was recognized for his outstanding performance for Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire and his impressive season with Serie A club Atalanta.
The 27-year-old scored three goals in seven games, helping the Super Eagles secure a second-place finish in the tournament.
He also played a crucial role in Atalanta’s UEFA Europa League success, scoring a hat-trick in their 3-0 final victory over Bayer Leverkusen. Last season, Lookman recorded 17 goals and 10 assists across all competitions for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side.
Lookman beat out his international teammate Victor Osimhen and Burkinabe star Edmund Tapsoba to win the award.
