The caretaker manager of the senior team of Nigeria, Augustine Eguavoen has named two players that Super Eagles will miss.

The 56-year-old coach lamented over the two Super Eagles stars who will not be able to participate in the 2021 African Cup Of Nations’ (AFCON’s) tournament.

The two players include the Super Eagles strikers, Victor Osimhen and Emmanuel Dennis.

The Napoli star, Osimhen had previously suffered a face injury on the 22nd of November before his club failed to release him after having been tested positive for Covid-19 a week ago.

The Watford striker, Dennis on the other hand has been excused from the competition as the Golden Boys’ boss declared that Nigeria failed to send a ‘pre-call’ before a specific deadline.

The tournament will then kick off this weekend has seen Osimhen replaced by the Olympiacos star, Henry Onyekuru just like Dennis has also paved way for Slavia Prague forward Peter Olayinka.

In group ‘D’, Nigeria was drawn alongside Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau and the three times African Cup of Nations (AFCON) winners has not won the trophy since 2013 when last they won Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final.

Eguavoen told the media: “The only thing is to change the style of play because the personnel is not there as we expected.”

“Definitely Victor Osimhen is a big miss, Emmanuel Dennis is in form, also a big miss.”
