AFCON crisis escalates after walkout leads to match forfeiture.
The Senegalese Football Federation has rejected the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeal Board that stripped Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and awarded it to Morocco.
The federation confirmed it will challenge the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, Switzerland.

CAF had earlier declared Morocco champions after ruling that Senegal forfeited the final following a brief walkout during the match in Rabat. The appeal board cited violations of Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations.

In its reaction, the Senegalese federation described the verdict as “unfair, unprecedented and unacceptable,” warning that it undermines the credibility of African football.
The dispute stems from chaotic scenes late in the final, when Senegal players left the pitch after a controversial penalty decision and disallowed goal. CAF later ruled that the action constituted misconduct warranting forfeiture.
Despite overturning an earlier disciplinary decision on procedural grounds, the appeal board maintained that Senegal’s conduct breached competition rules, leading to a 3-0 award in favour of Morocco.
Senegal insisted it would pursue justice through legal means, stating its commitment to “integrity and sporting fairness” as it prepares for a decisive battle at CAS.
