The Department of State Services (DSS) says it has again uncovered a plot to disrupt the inauguration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu.
The DSS described the planners of such plots as “subversive elements.”
Revealing their strategies, the secret police stated that the elements were employing fake news, false alarms, skewed reportage or narratives, and sensationalism that may likely inflame division, and tension and subsequently cause violence before and after the exercises.

He advised residents of the Federal Capital Territory and other States of the Federation where the inauguration would hold the same day not to be unruly or try to defy security protocols.
Also, Peter Afunanya, the spokesman of the secret police on Thursday morning, advised citizens, the media, and Civil Society Organisations to adhere strictly to security and civil protocols during the events.

Afunanya said:
“The Service is, however, aware of plans by subversive elements to disrupt the programmes in parts of the country. The aim is to undermine security agencies’ efforts at ensuring peaceful ceremonies as well as creating panic and fear among members of the public.
“This is more so that such undesirable acts will serve no purpose other than destroying national unity and cohesion. Additionally, all unauthorized (and unaccredited) persons are warned to stay away from restricted and certain designated areas at the event venues.”
He further urged Nigerians to remain calm before, during, and after the inauguration.
He promises that the secret police would continue to collaborate with the Nigerian police, the military, and other sister security agencies to handle all the threats.
