The Nigerian Railway Corporation(NRN) management once again Tuesday suspended the Warri-Itakpe Train Services (WITS).

According to NRN, the suspension was due to a derailment at the Ajaokuta station on Monday.

Recall that the WITS resumed operations on Monday, April 24, 2023.

The above followed the suspension of train services on the corridor after 148 passengers and 38 crew members of a train operating the Warri-Itakpe route narrowly avoided death as a result of a derailment inside the Kogi forest in January 2023.

In contrast, the Management said in a statement on Tuesday that it was making every effort to address the situation at the derailment site and will begin the necessary repairs to get the derailed locomotive back on track.

The statement read:

Our highly esteemed passengers, we are sad to let you know that due to the derailment of our passenger’s train( WITS 01) yesterday at Ajaokuta station our train schedule for today will not run.”
