AGF Demands Case File on EndBadGovernance Protesters

AGF Demands Case File on EndBadGovernance Protesters | Daily Report Nigeria

The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has instructed the Nigeria Police Force to hand over the case file of minors involved in the recent EndBadGovernance protests.

In a statement released Friday night, the AGF emphasized the need for his office to review the details surrounding the case before a January hearing.

The AGF’s directive comes after 72 individuals, including minors, were arraigned for alleged treason in connection with the protests.

Notably, four minors collapsed in court before the charges were presented, prompting their exclusion from the proceedings.

Fagbemi stated, “There are some issues my office will need to look into regarding the matter to enable me to take an informed decision.” While he acknowledged the court’s decision to remand the defendants, he affirmed that he lacks the authority to alter the court’s order.

This intervention follows significant public backlash regarding the treatment of the protesters, particularly minors.

The AGF has tasked the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation to expedite the case review, aiming to bring the adjournment date forward.
